Gadani ship breaking yard is the third largest ship breaking yard in the world. This yard is located across a 10 km long beach at Gadani, Balochistan, about 50 km Northwest of Karachi. The yard consist of 132 ship-breaking plots. In 1980s, Gadani was the largest ship-breaking yard in the world, all big shipping companies from different countries send their ships for scrape purpose and that time it has more than 30,000 employees. More than one million tons of steel is salvaged here every year and much of it is sold domestically.
Rest of parts ship includes engines, electrical items, furniture, pipes(rubber and plastic), mirrors, radar and other navigation system are sale out in local markets which is being used later in other industrial works.
These ships are break down by the help of big cranes and gas cutters and other work done by hands which is done by labors.
